Psalm 102:13 “Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.”
Zion, yes you! Respond to the Lord, you will arise and he will have mercy upon you for the time to favour you has come. You are in your set time and it here now. Just a couple of minutes ago you were waiting for the set time but God says you have stepped into your kairos moment, a divine set time for God to favour you.
When you realise theweight and gravity of favour upon you, you can only but get up and walk like the king or queen you are. Favour comes after mercy has prevailed, therefore mercy has to come first before favour. Favour is God giving you something you did not merit. If it were by merit you would not qualify. God ignores your shortcomings to bless your life, favour demands uprightness – right standing with God
Joseph did not contest for leadership. Mary did not even pray to be the mother of Jesus. Peter did not extend an invite for Jesus into His boat but divine favour, mercy and the grace of God located and found them all.
Abraham did not call on God to use him. Abraham knew gods of wood, clay and stone and still God called out to him. “Abram! Abram! Leave your kindred and go to a land I shall show you.” Abraham was on his own, lost in his own ways, doing life the only way he knew and still favour found him.
David was in the field tending to the sheep. Probably a tendril who cared for nothing more than running in the wild unkempt, probably not the bathing type. Samuel came and went for the eldest among the brothers, the one that was well built and presentable by sight. When he was to be anointed, God said no! He went for the second, third, fourth to the last, until Samuel asked if there was a son missing.
There is a special door opened for somebody. The Lord has sent Samuel to anoint a king in the house of Jesse. The father of many eligible sons might have responded, “There is a little insignificant one and he is out doing childish things in the fields with the sheep. He is not articulate, he doesn’t look kingly, he’s odd and awkward. He’s not the right one.” Samuel insists and asks, “Where is he? He is the one I am sent for, he is the choice of God!”
If God is the source of all wisdom, information and he has chosen you, nothing can stand in the way. Daniel had wisdom of science but he didn’t go to the university like we know it today. They searched for the insignificant one – David the shepherd boy . Even when the favour came knocking he was not home. It doesn’t matter where you are, favour has your name on it. Favour comes with a definitive name tag. It will find you and that favour will keep looking for you until it locates you.
When David was found, the wisdom, intelligence ,wealth and discretion of God found him. The ability of God took over! When you avail yourself God gives you the ability beyond measure. Through God you can do all things.
Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
When God decides to favour you, your sins will not count. He is full of mercy and his favour will flow not only in your life but that of your family and circle of influence.
